  • Huia Rosé 2023

93 Points — Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review

Abel-clone pinot noir from a certified Bio-Gro organic vineyard in the Waihopai Valley of Marlborough’s Southern Valleys, this hits all the notes for this technically-demanding style of pale, crisp and dry, tank-fermented rosé. A seriously refreshing, premium example and one of the most accomplished wines in Huia’s current range.

Very pale pink. Subtle watermelon and crisp floral notes. Light, dry palate with light-weight flavours of blood orange and plum juice, finishing crisp and appetisingly saline. Moderately long and refreshing with a lovely line of acidity. It’s quietly complex and very well made—exactly in the style which is currently fashionable for rosé.

  • Huia Blanc de Blancs 2017

95 points — Cam Douglas, Master Sommelier

Seductively complex with aroma of honeysuckle and developed autolysis, white strawberry and apple, some stone fruit moments and mild toasty core. Delicious on the palate with flavours that reflect the nose plus peach and sweet grapefruit, lemon pith and mineral. An elegant mousse, sweet acidity and long finish. Delicious!

Huia’s Blanc de Blancs is all chardonnay, barrel fermented and aged as base wine. The second fermentation in bottle was followed by 32 months ageing on lees prior to disgorgement and a dosage of just 6 grams per litre. All toasty brioche and ripe citrus on the nose, it’s a lovely sparkler, medium bodied and rich but refreshing at the same time with a lingering, elegant finish.

  • Huia Brut Rosé 2018

94 points — Bob Campbell, The Real Review

Copper tint. Made from 100% pinot noir grapes that were fermented in barrel and aged on lees for 11 months before bottle fermentation and further lees age for 20 months. The result is a deliciously fresh and fruity sparkling wine with an ethereal texture

Aged as a base wine then en triage for 20 months prior to disgorgement. Medium copper-salmon hue in the glass with a fine mousse and scent of sous-bois, alpine strawberries and fresh lime juice. Light to medium-bodied on the palate, it’s fresh and pleasantly dry with a slight chalkiness on the finish.

  • Huia Pinot Noir 2017

93 Points — Cam Douglas, Master Sommelier

Myriad aromas of mineral and varietal fruit scents, there's a core of flowers and oak, soil and fruit, an integrated oak and savoury spice complexity then aromas of cherry and red apple, plum and red currant. Salivating and youthful on the palate with flavours of dried herb then red currant, fine oak spices then a savoury mineral quality. Fine tannins and decent acid line keep add texture and mouthfeel, but also a foundation of texture and structure. Well made, youthful still. Best drinking from 2022 through 2028+.Description text goes here

  • Huia Chardonnay 2021

90 points — NZ Wine Rater

Golden hue in the glass. A distinctive, oxygen-influenced nose with Champagne-like biscuit aromas, and hints of fallen leaves, yellow apple and brown spice. Dry, and mellow on the palate with richness from lees-contact and a fine acid spine. A somewhat idiosyncratic style, perhaps not to everyone's taste but certainly with merit.

  • Huia Sauvignon Blanc 2020

92 points — Bob Campbell, The Real Review

Flavoursome sauvignon blanc from an excellent vintage. Bright, vibrant wine with passionfruit, pineapple, lemongrass, lime and guava flavours. A robust wine that packs a punch.

There's a slight green edge to the nose of the 2020 Sauvignon Blanc—something along the lines of chili pepper, mint and lime zest—plus hints of tropical fruit and pink grapefruit. Concentrated and flavourful, this medium-bodied effort is gently silky in texture, with terrific length on the mouthwatering, citrusy finish. Probably the best vintage of this wine I've tasted since I began reviewing New Zealand wines in 2000.

  • Huia Chardonnay 2019

92 points — Huon Hooke, the Real Review

Light yellow colour, bright. The aromas are fresh and clean, showing plenty of malolactic butterscotch, a trace of canned corn, the palate likewise with a full, rich, rounded, almost opulent shape, and not too dry at the finish. A big, round, generous mouthful of classic chardonnay.

  • Huia Grüner Veltliner 2019

94 points — Christine Pickard, Wine Enthusiast

This is a shining example of a variety too rarely seen in New Zealand. Huia’s version is elegant and refreshing.
